The conversation proposes that each era has characteristic signs and faces. In a rapidly iterating media environment, the face becomes a public surface on which speed, identity and social expectation are made visible.

Rather than searching for one face that can represent everyone, we ask what makes certain faces instantly recognisable and others difficult to see. The answer may lie as much in circulation, styling and repetition as in the face itself.
