ABSTRACT / 摘要

Sixteen public records form the largest named sequence in the current core corpus. They connect interval time, reading, bodily comfort, calligraphic rhythm, domestic taste, manual skill, budget, client power and lifelong practice. This paper argues that design authorship does not disappear under constraint; it becomes visible through the way limits are translated into proportion, use, narrative and duration. Design is ethical when it remains answerable to bodies and consequences rather than treating originality as surface distinction.

Installation process

The process image keeps handling and placement visible, preventing the final arrangement from appearing self-produced.

The drawing functions as a proposition for relations among plant, container, frame and viewer rather than a decorative sketch.

The group and the painted landscape occupy one visual field, allowing social presence to become part of exhibition meaning.

HOW WE READ /

We read sixteen short records through the body: how proportion, money, clients, hands, habits and available time enter the making of everyday form.

01

Interval is a design material

Records on climbing, boredom and slow reading describe a perceptual reset. Hearing compresses a text into flow, while reading permits return, pause and deeper memory. Design begins before drawing, in the temporal conditions under which a body can notice proportion and difference. The interval is therefore not wasted time but an infrastructure for judgement.

The body measures space

The sequence joins calligraphy, chair height, domestic taste and psychological comfort. Proportion is not a timeless formula: a chair records assumptions about bodies, habits and rooms. Likewise, comfort exceeds softness or convenience. It includes whether a space permits orientation, attention and a relation to others without numbing the capacity for change.

The hand keeps ideas answerable

The public phrase about whether a clever mind makes a clever hand is not a call to romanticise craft. It identifies a feedback loop. Making returns information that thought alone cannot produce: weight, tolerance, fatigue and the cost of correction. The hand does not execute a finished idea; it changes what the idea is allowed to become.

Budget exposes authorship

The captions on insufficient budgets and client-funded research distinguish completion from narrative support. Constraint can produce invention, but only if its costs remain visible. Calling the client a provider of research funds does not erase power; it makes the negotiation explicit. Authorship lies in deciding which compromises preserve use and which destroy the design's ethical proposition.

Originality must survive duration

The desire to make something one can continue at eighty counters the compressed horizon of trends. Marking difference may demand a cost, but cost alone does not prove value. Our sequence relocates originality from appearance to duration: the repeated capacity to transform limits without losing contact with bodies, materials and the people who live with the result.
